As the sequence of confirmed cases of the recent coronavirus continues to upward thrust, Apple and streaming provider Hulu are grappling with staff who have tested distinct.
Apple said on Monday that an employee at its Culver City workplace has the recent coronavirus and remains in self-isolation at home. The employee had no symptoms when last in the workplace, the company said.
“We acknowledge right here’s a challenging time for our global community and our ideas remain with those around the sector personally affected by COVID-19 and the brave medical professionals and researchers fighting it,” Apple said in a statement.
Hulu said it also had an employee at its Santa Monica workplace who tested distinct for COVID-19. The employee went home for self-quarantine as soon as symptoms began, according to a company spokeswoman.
The individual worked at building 2500 in Santa Monica and the flooring that Hulu occupies have been temporarily closed for deep cleaning.
Staff who had contact with the person with COVID-19 have been notified and will earn a living from home, the spokeswoman added. Assorted staff have been urged to obtain the same.
An Apple representative declined to say whether the Culver City workplace is closed. On Friday, Apple Chief Govt Tim Cook dinner said in a statement that Apple is moving to versatile work arrangements at its workplaces launch air of greater China.
“That means team members must restful work remotely if their job allows, and those whose work requires them to be on place of abode must restful observe guidance to maximize interpersonal space,” Cook dinner said.
Cook dinner attended a birthday party for Universal Music Crew’s chairman and chief government Lucian Grainge last month before the track government tested distinct for recent coronavirus, according to Variety. Spokesmen for Apple and UMG declined to remark.
Last week, Netflix closed one of its L.A. buildings after an employee was suspected of having the recent coronavirus.
