The primary coronavirus-related death in Texas was reported late Monday in Matagorda County.

In a news release, the Matagorda County Emergency Operation Heart confirmed that a man in his late 90s died Sunday evening at Matagorda Regional Medical Heart with “symptoms in line with COVID-19.”

Matagorda County spokesman Mitch Thames told the Houston Tale that the man, most efficient diagnosed as a Matagorda County resident, was examined while alive. The outcomes came back definite on Monday, he said.

The Houston Department of Health and Human Services and products notified the hospital about the definite test result at 6: 15 p.m. Monday, the release said.

The man was the 2nd definite case in Matagorda County , located about 85 miles southwest of downtown Houston. The primary case, announced Saturday, involved a woman in her 60s with out a travel history outside Texas.

She was admitted to the same hospital for “complications from pneumonia,” officials said. Matagorda County said she is possibly linked to the 2nd case.

“Per the State’s protocol, the State has launched an in depth investigation into this 2nd definite case, as they have informed the Matagorda County Hospital District that evidence exists of a conceivable neighborhood link to the earlier definite case in Matagorda County,” the release said.

Texas Department of State Health Services and products continues to investigate the woman’s health history and travel.

“We re using each tool at our disposal,” the release said.

The death was reported as President Donald Trump, beneath mounting stress to take more significant steps to gradual the spreading coronavirus, advised that Americans stop unnecessary travel and avoid bars, restaurants and groups of more than 10 of us, as he warned that the outbreak may well lengthen effectively into the summer.

There have been 29 definite COVID-19 cases in the Houston space, excluding Matagorda County, as of late Monday.
